Where did Poker Playing Cards come from?
The Chinese have used card games for thousands of years. Not the same pack as we all use and know so well today. The Chinese had many different packs of cards for many different games, mainly their packs of cards were used to test the strategies of a particular problem they may have had. Early games were thought to have been introduced to us by the Moors, or a fourteenth century traveller returning from a journey overseas with an example of, or they copied from memory a game they saw on their travels.
There are a lot of references to card games migrating to Europe from the Arabs in the 13th Century. These cards, although different from the modern pack of cards, bore, similar characteristics to the modern pack. The pack of cards that we know and are so used to today have changed little in the past three hundred years and I would imagine they will remain the same now, forever more.
